Since most Americans do not eat enough fruits and veggies, grilling fruits and veggies are another way to add them to the table.
Why grill fruits and veggies? Grilling fruits and veggies caramelizes the natural sugars and brings out a different and delicious flavor! Lightly brush or marinate the fruits or veggies and place on a hot grill. A simple and healthy option is canola, olive, or avocado oil with garlic and light dash of salt and pepper. When the fruits and veggies easily lift up, just like with meat, flip and cook until desired texture. Be sure to cut the fruits and veggies into larger pieces so they do not fall through the grill and if you are concerned, place them on skewers to prevent fall through. Remember, to always keep fruits and veggies separate from meats to prevent cross-contamination and avoid charring them! Grill marks are good, but when burned, foods lose its nutritional quality and no longer taste great!
