Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb. eye round steak, -inch thick
  • 1/2 tsp. coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 cup canned whole-berry cranberry sauce
  • 3 tbsp. bottled horseradish
  • 2 small bay leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. whole cloves (optional)

  1. Cut steak into 4 pieces; sprinkle evenly with pepper and onion powder. Coat a large nonstick skillet with nonstick cooking spray; place over medium-high heat. Add steaks; cook 3 minutes per side.
  2. Push steaks to skillet edges; reduce heat to medium. Add onion and garlic; cook, covered, 3 minutes or until onion is slightly softened, stirring once. Stir in broth, cranberry sauce, horseradish, bay leaves and (if desired) cloves.
  3. Spoon cranberry mixture on steaks. Increase heat to medium-high; bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer, covered, 40 to 50 minutes or until meat is very tender. Spoon sauce on steaks, and serve.
