Healthy Rib Rub

If you want to eliminate or reduce sugar and salt in your diet, but still like to enjoy barbecue ribs, here is a Dry Rub recipe for you.

  • 1/4 cup Splenda Sweetener
  • 3 tablespoons Sweet Paprika
  • 2 tablespoons Nu-Salt Substitue
  • 2 tablespoons Black Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Chipoltle Chili Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Onion Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Mustard Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Dried Lemon Peel


  1. Just mix all the ingredients together in an airtight container and store it in a dark, cool place.
  2. Makes about a cup of dry rub – enough for four racks of ribs.
  3. Apply the rub generously to the ribs before smoking or slow roasting them as you normally do.
